Wooden Guitar Pick - Curly Maple Exotic Wood TT-PL-CM

Curly Maple - Acer saccharum

Janka Hardness: 1450

Tonal Influence | Durability: Medium Warm | Medium Soft

Also known as: Hard Maple, Sugar Maple, White Maple, Hard Rock Maple

Grows: Canada, USA

Description: As with Birdseye Maple (It is from the same tree), this timber is predominantly light tan in colour. As it ages it takes on a more ‘honey-like’ hue. The ‘Curly’ aspect comes from a naturally occurring irregularity in the wood which causes a flamed effect through areas of darker figuring. Curly Maple has a long history of giving the flamed look to some of the world’s most iconic guitars.

Timber Tones Review

"Using a wood plectrum for the first time can be a breakthrough moment for a musician. Some will never go back to nylon or plastic once they’ve tried it. It opens up a whole new avenue for modifying your tone and expands on the choices a musician will already have made with regard to the guitar itself and choices of strings. It is very liberating to be able to produce a brighter or warmer sound simply through changing your pick."
