Description: As with Curly Maple (It is from the same tree), this timber is predominantly light tan in colour. As it ages it takes on a more ‘honey-like’ hue. The ‘Birds Eye’ aspect comes from a naturally occurring irregularity in the wood which causes clusters of dots with darker figuring in areas. Birds Eye Maple is often used by the likes of Fender to produce amazing swirling patterns on their fret-boards.
