Orange AD30TC Head

The Orange AD30TC has an awesome British Rock Crunch. Two very similar channels which each have a Volume, Gain and 3 Band EQ. This also has a tube rectifier which adds a beautiful dynamic to each chord or note you’ll strike.

Every guitarist knows that their amplifier sounds best when cranked, but it's very rare that a live sound engineer will agree! If you are one of the millions of guitarists tired of being told to "turn down", then the Orange AD30 twin channel head could have been designed for you! Push the AD30 master up past "7" and the power amp will really start to sing... Without drowning out your drummer!

What is it like from a gigging point of view?

It is exactly what you would want for a balanced volume and a stunning rock/blues sound. As with many Orange amps they feel at there best above “7”. This volume, with a Les Paul or Strat, is loud but is the right sort of volume for a three piece rock/blues band.

The other fantastic thing about this amp is that it just pulls all of the resonance of the Guitar’s woods, strings, pickups and unifies them. A Strat sounds like a Strat but with this amp you know the year it was made!

Features:

There is no Reverb, Tube Failure Protection, Effects Loop or Attenuator. It lacks features but it really doesn’t matter at all.

The two channels are flexible and can range from a chiming clean to a hearty, sustaining crunch. Both EQs give a great range of tones to play with. The controls do exactly what you want and don’t change things drastically when you almost had “the” sound.

Not having features is a good thing for this amp because it is more affordable and, we think, has more character as a consequence.

Head or Combo?

Always difficult, because a Head has the flexibility or being paired with 1x12, 2x12, 4x12 and full stack, and looks utterly at home with a Rock band.. But the combo compliments it’s sound better as the tones are aloud to escape from the back generating subtle ambience. So, if it is Rock you play buy the head and if your band is slightly more delicate or dynamic then the combo will suit.
