electro-harmonix Germanium OD.
electro-harmonix Germanium OD replicates those classic 1960’s overdrive tones with a genuine Germanium transistor. The EHX Germanium OD features 3 controls. ‘Gain’ control adjusts the amount of input signal that is fed to the Germanium OD. The more the knob is rotated the harder the Germanium transistor and drive components are hit. ‘Bias’ control adjusts the current gain that is sent to the Germanium transistor. It works together with the Voltage control to attain the overall tone. The Bias control works specifically with a Germanium transistor. ‘Volts’ control allows the user to control the amount of voltage that is applied to the Germanium OD. When the knob is set at full, 9volts is applied, when set at minimum 3volts is applied. By limiting the volts applied to the pedal a number of interesting saturations can be set up for variations in tone.
The EHX Germanium OD offers all kinds of 60’s tones, you’ll find some really sweet points on the controls with different guitars- from the replicated sound of a draining battery when the volts are set lower, to singing overdrive with the volts set to full.
Electro Harmonix have been making unique effect pedals for more than 30 years and they offer a vast range of 50+ pedals in their current line-up.
